Legislation: The Medicrime Convention will be ratified by France and Belgium soon

May 19th, 2016 - www.coe.int

Belgium adopted the law ratifying the Medicrime Convention on 12 May 2016, just before France who did it on May 19. Before the end of 2016, these two countries should ratify the first international instrument in the criminal law field on counterfeiting of medical products and similar crimes involving threats to public health.

The Medicrime Convention is a Council of Europe international criminal law treaty. The 47 states in Europe that are members of the Council of Europe, as well as states in other regions of the world, can sign and ratify the Convention and thus join the international co-operation under the Convention.
