Conference/Communication: The first IGAD Conference on regulatory coordination and harmonization in the fight against fake medicines

In early august 2015, the first IGAD Regional Medicines Regulatory Authorities Conference on Regulatory Coordination and Harmonization has taken place. Among others, the Federal Ministry of Health of Ethiopia, WHO, UNFPA (United Nations Population Fund) and USAID / PQM (United States Agency for International Development / Promoting the Quality of Medicines was attended. The IGAD Executive Secretary emphasized the importance of the conference in view of the scale of the problem of fake medicines. In addition, the need to work urgently has arisen, in order to change as quickly as possible the regulatory framework, to coordinate and harmonize regional efforts in the fight against counterfeit medicines and illegal trafficking.
