The Spanish Agency of Medicines and Health products (AEMPS) has signed an agreement with health authorities in Mexico, Paraguay, Colombia and El Salvador to fight together against illegal sale of medicines on the internet. The MoU foresees the establishment of an Observatory which aims to monitor the commercialization, promotion and advertising of medicines on the internet. This international cooperation should develop legal mechanisms deployed against this scourge. The issue is, as illustrated by international organization data’s (WHO, the United Nations, INTERPOL), more and more alarming. Indeed, the sale of counterfeit products constitute the third most lucrative business in the world while it directly affects public health and is very complex to combat.
