Enforcement: Turkey - A network of fake drugs against cancer dismantled

January 16, 2014 – turkishweekly.net

The efforts of the Turkish government to stop the sales of counterfeit drugs continued last month, with a series of operations in nine cities against a group accused of selling fake drugs against cancer. According to the police, the markets targeted by the group included Turkey, the United States and other countries. The criminal organization operated by tracking cancer patients, and selling a portion of fake drugs in front of hospitals, the other part being sold directly with pharmacies. The members of this group were able to produce fake drugs against flu and cancer, and also repack and sell expired medications.

The 95 patients whose health has been affected by these fake drugs have brought complaints against counterfeiters.
