October 7th, 2014 -

Europol led between the 15th and the 23rd of September the “single largest coordinated assault on organized crime ever seen in Europe” in more than 300 cities, ports, airports and border crossings of the 28 members of the European Union along with others States such as Colombia, Norway, Serbia, Switzerland and the United-States.

The operation entitled Archimedes was targeted towards child trafficking organizations but also unveiled a large amount of counterfeit medication producing equipment, putting into light the link between the organized crime and the emerging integrated criminal economy, in which the counterfeiting of medicines has proven to be occupying an increasing place.
