According to the specialized information platform Legal China, the Chinese Supreme Court handled 81cases in relation with counterfeit drugs and/or food, while 1,646 cases were handled countrywide, leading to the prosecution of 13,240 persons. The report also states that in 2015, the Supreme People's Procuratorate deployed a two-year special oversight activity, focused on unsafe and fake drugs and foods, which is supposed to play a deterrent role.

This report was also discussed in early March during the “Two Assemblies” or “lianghui”, the annual meeting that conveys the National People's Congress, China’s legislative body and the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, a consultative body that gathers representatives from the different provinces, and economic sectors, to discuss China’s main concerns and offer policy suggestions.
