Almost 900,000 medicines and other products were led by EU Customs in 2015


September 23th, 2016 - Report on “EU customs enforcement of intellectual property rights - Results at the EU border 2015” European Commission

The report on the EU customs detentions of articles suspected of infringing intellectual property rights (IPR) in 2015 was published on 22 September 2016 by the European Commission. Last year, up to 80,000 detention cases were registered by Customs and over 40 million detained articles are concerned, the value of the equivalent genuine products is estimated to be just over 642 million euros. Regarding medicines and other products (condoms), 1,554 procedures were led for a total of 895,324 articles and a retail value of original goods of 12,392,626 euros.


The first countries of provenance are India (56.80%), China (18.06%) and Hong Kong (16.11%).
