WCO’s report 2013
In its illicit trade report 2013, the World Customs Organization (WCO) reported a significant increase in seizures of illicit pharmaceuticals by customs in 2013. Illicit medicines are the main products, infringing intellectual property rights, with 3 billion of counterfeit products seized by the customs. In second rank, electronic devices recorded a total of 470 million pieces seized. India and China are the top exporters of counterfeit and illicit medicines. The United States, Saudi Arabia and Italia are the main countries targeted by this phenomenon.
