The Indonesia Anti-Counterfeiting Society (MIAP) claims fake drugs make up for 25% of the country’s USD 2 billion pharmaceutical markets. According to a 2015 study on Asian perceptions and buying habits with regards to counterfeit medicines, 86% of Indonesians were aware of the danger of counterfeit medicines, although more than half confess that they are unable to distinguish real medicines from fakes.
