Enforcement: £200,000 “smart drugs” seizure prompts alarm over rising UK sales

October 24th 2014 - www.theguardian.com

A record amount of illicit “smart drugs” usually sold to students to enhance their memory and concentration has been seized from a website in the United Kingdom. Most of the seized drugs are medicines that should only be available with a prescription; one of the seized drugs is experimental and has never been tested on humans in clinical tests. The seizure, worth 200,000£ shows the increasing place Internet has in the sale of cognitive enhancement drugs, and illustrate the phenomenon of students aiming for over edge mental competition, moving from coffee to caffeine tablets.
